Community Agents Project

Helping vulnerable people remain independent in their own home is the key message for a new project launched in September 2013 across Redcar and Cleveland. Three Community Agents within Tees Valley Rural Community Council are working alongside health and social care practitioners to engage with the voluntary sector to help make a difference. In the first three months over 100 people have been referred and helped as a direct result of the project.

The Community Agents have created a comprehensive database of Voluntary and Community Groups in the area. They are always keen to know about any community groups who offer activities or any organisations that engage with volunteers and would be happy to lend a helping hand to someone in their community.

Community Agents act as a one-stop shop, signposting people to the appropriate service that meets their needs. This could be an organisation or voluntary group that can:

The Community Agents project has identified a need for many more volunteers to meet the demands of the project, we are especially looking for people to become befrienders and volunteer drivers.
